TED is a non-profit organization committed to spreading ideas worth sharing on topics that range from science to business to social justice. It began in 1984 as a four-day conference hosted in California to bring together Technology, Entertainment, and Design. Since that time, TED has expanded globally through official TED events, independently-run TEDx events, educational TED-Ed Talks, and a viral online community that makes TED Talks publicly accessible. TED Talks deliver dynamic and informative messages, and can be given by anyone with an idea worth sharing. Speakers range from notable authors, politicians, and world leaders, to educators, students, and children as young as 12. Today, you will be seeing a small sample of speakers whose incredible ideas contribute to the success of the TED brand. 

 

TEDx is an initiative developed by TED to spark and spread the mantra of “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx events, such as this one, are independent and self-organized. TEDxQueensU is one of the 3,000+ TEDx events that are held annually across the globe. They are made possible by the collaboration of passionate individuals who wish to uncover new ideas and offer a platform for them to be shared in local communities. 

 

As an independently organized TED event, TEDxQueensU is a collective of individuals whose goals are to teach and share ideas worth spreading. TEDxQueensU is a collaborative endeavour made possible by students, faculty, alumni, and the surrounding Kingston community. Through comradery, education and ideas, TEDxQueensU hopes to rejuvenate the imaginations of each of our delegates. We strive to use our 2022 conference to showcase Queen’s ingenuity, resilience, and community.
